Architect, designer, and researcher. Milad is acting as the Programme Head at the Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture, Emergent Technologies and Design Graduate Programme. He holds a PhD from the Architectural Association. After obtaining his BSc. in Architectural Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, he completed his M.Arch. from Pratt Institute where he graduated with Sidney Katz award for design excellence in 2015. Milad has worked for several architecture and design firms in Asia, U.S.A and Europe as design technology specialist such as Contemporary Architecture Practice (CAP) amongst others. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Milad also directs of the AA Istanbul visiting school with the research focus on integration of algorithmic design methods with large-scale digital fabrication tools. He is the co-founder of ‘Wallacei’, an evolutionary and analytic engine with embedded machine learning algorithms that gives users full control over their evolutionary simulations in Grasshopper 3D.

Architect and researcher currently working at the Architectural Associations Digital Prototyping Laboratory. He studied architecture at UNAM(Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and received his Masters in Advanced Architecture, Digital Tectonics degree from IAAC(Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalunya). Interested in researching the way in which machines and rapid prototyping techniques influence the way in which architecture is conceived and built. He is a registered architect in Mexico where he is a founding member of mexican firm BALA Architects.

Interdisciplinary engineer currently working at Architectural Association Digital Prototyping Laboratory in the role of Robotic Fabrication Technician. Alex received his MEng Mechanical Engineering and MSc Topological Design from the University of Birmingham, UK. Alex was previously employed at Automata, a London-based lab automation/robotics company. Alex is responsible for the successful output of robotic projects at the AA and is in charge of the training of students on the industrial robotic arms at Bedford Square.

Giulio is a structural engineer and computational designer. After graduating from University College London, he pursued an MSc at the Architectural Association’s Emergent Technologies and Design programme where he graduated with distinction. He has since worked in several design-led engineering consultancies including AKTII’s parametric applied research (p.art) team in London before returning to Price & Myers, where he is currently an Associate. Giulio’s work centres on complex geometries and digital fabrication, and digitial craftsmanship with a focus on integrating advanced computational techniques with traditional craft to deliver efficient design solutions.

Jonathan Wong is a computational designer at Populous and co-developer of H.I.V.E., a Grasshopper plug-in for pedestrian simulation. He holds an M.Arch in Emergent Technologies and Design from the Architectural Association and dual degrees in architecture and mathematics from Penn State University. With a background in both design and analytical thinking, his work centers on developing computational workflows and digital tools to empower architects and designers to make informed, data-driven decisions at every stage of the design process.
