“Kinetica Art Fair is produced by Kinetica Museum and is the first of its kind in the UK. It brings together galleries, art organisations and curatorial groups from around the world who focus on kinetic, electronic, robotic, sound, light, time-based and multi-disciplinary new media art, science and technology.”

The fair provides an international platform for museums, collectors, curators and the public to view and buy artworks in this thriving and advancing field. Alongside the fair Kinetica curate a themed feature exhibition, screenings, tours, talks, workshops and performances.

Kinetica Art Fair 2012 took place during 08-12 February 2012 in London. AA DLAB unit tutors Alexandros Kallegias and Kensuke Hotta exhibited their unit’s work in the exhibition. Kinetica Art Fair is a prestigious exhibition attracting many artists, curators, visitors and press from around the world every year.

Architectural Intelligent Canopy

In current architectural discourses, advances in technology have shifted the thinking of how an architectural canopy is designed. The design discipline is now directed towards bearing more performative features, while being highly focused to carry on specific interests and concepts. Architecture is re-defined as an intelligent machine that integrates numerous computers dedicated to sensing-calculating-actuating; each making their own decisions in order to produce an interactive interface. The combination of dynamic hardware and software systems, which allows for the structure to have functions like recognizing input, generating output, evaluating actions, as well as self-system-recognition, becomes the driving force behind the architect’s dynamic forms.
